Manita, Spanish slang for "little hand" or "little sister", is a term of endearment that is spoken so often in this part of the world. My maternal grandmother Julia was a perpetual creator, often by necessity as the mother of seven children. She sewed, she punched tin, she baked, and she probably tried many more crafts that I never knew about. I inherited a natural curiosity to attempt all things artistic and handmade.
My home is Taos, NM, a mountain town in the desert Southwest, bursting with inspiration. I borrow from my multi-cultural background to create a modern & sophisticated take on the traditions of my beloved Northern New Mexico home.
